First Edinburgh Fringe shows go on sale
It’s still more than six months away, but tickets for the first Edinburgh Fringe shows have gone on sale today.
Among the comics confirming their shows are Nina Conti, Susan Calman, Daniel Sloss and Jimeoin.
Needless to say most of the shows’ descriptions are short on detail so far before the festival officially begins on August 5 – but News Quiz regular Calman’s show at the Pleasance is called The Calman Before The Storm, in which she describes herself as ‘a tiny lady with nothing to lose’.
Jimeoin’s show is called Renonsense Man; Sloss’s So? and Conti’s is untitled.
Meanwhile comedian, GP and campaigning health journalist Dr Phil Hammond will be performing his new show calling for a revolution in the NHS with a plan to ‘ditch the market, cherish the carers, and fund the frontline’ as well as his more personal storytelling show Life and Death (But Mainly Death) about mortality.
A total of 18 shows have gone on sale today, also including festival stalwart Absolute Improv! and camp musical Eurobeat, which returns to the Pleasance Grand after nine years. Set around the Eurovision Song Contest it originally starred Mel Giedroyc, but she won’t be returning to the role.
